Question: Help with a spring break trip?

So me and a friend want to go to NYC for spring break. We were originally wanting to go for 4 days and 3 nights, but after seeing the prices off of some of these travel sites we became a little discouraged. We can absolutely do a 3 day 2 night stay, but I'm a little conscious about booking the trip with a travel site. I'm a little afraid that we might get there and the hotel wouldn't be booked as planned, or maybe even trouble with the airline tickets. I guess my question would be are these travel websites trustworthy, or should I find a travel agent? And if I used a travel website, would I have to call the airlines and hotel myself to make sure everything is in order? I went to NYC in July of last year with my mom, and she used a travel agent. It was pricey but worth every penny. Thing is I'm going with my friend this time and we're splitting the cost.

I don't know what travel website you are talking about, but we have booked ALL of our trips on various travel websites and have never had an issue with any reservation. Just make sure to read all the fine print on the websites before you book it and you should be good to go. Keep all printed copies of bills and reservation info so if you would have a problem you can show proof on your side. If you are nervous about it you can always call to confirm a few days before your trip to assure yourself before you're actually there. If you do have an issue threaten to contact CNN's Travel Troubleshooter. National exposure always gets their butts moving.
